By using My Lighthouse you accept these terms.
Photos
- Upload only real photos taken by you. AI-generated or AI-edited images and other people’s photos are not allowed.
- You keep ownership of your photos but grant us a free, non-exclusive right to show them in the app (lighthouse pages, monthly contests, covers, photo of the month).
- Do not upload illegal or offensive content, recognisable people without their consent, or content that infringes others’ rights.
- Each photo is up to 700 KB and may be removed by moderation.
The contest
- Every month, for each lighthouse, the most voted photo becomes the lighthouse cover (a single photo in the contest is enough, with at least one vote).
- You have 3 votes per lighthouse per month and cannot vote for your own photos. Misconduct (vote swapping, multiple accounts) leads to exclusion.
Reports and blocks
- You can report a photo or block a user from the photo menu. Heavily reported photos are hidden pending review.
- We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
Forecasts and sky ratings
- Sunrise, sunset, cloud and tide forecasts and the sky score are indicative only: do not use them for navigation or safety decisions.
- The “How was the sky?” rating counts only if you are within 2 km of the lighthouse; one rating per sunrise or sunset. False ratings lead to exclusion.
Other
- Descriptions come from Wikipedia (CC BY-SA); lighthouses from OpenStreetMap and Wikidata; tides and weather from Open-Meteo.
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile: we will delete photos, votes and personal data.
- The app is provided “as is”, without warranties.
